"All religions of the world are good"VARANASI, India, 14 January 2009 (Times of India)The Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama , performed religious rituals at Mula Gandha Kuty Vihara, Sarnath, on Tuesday. He also offered prayer at Dhammek Stupa for global peace. The Dalai Lama is here on a 10-day visit to Sarnath for delivering Buddhist teachings at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS).
The Dalai Lama He performed puja at the Kalchakra mandap before delivering the teachings at the CIHTS. While addressing the devotees, he said that Tibet had been a madhya desh (central place) of Buddhism. But, there is no Bhikshuni Sangh (monastery of women monks) in Tibet while Taiwan has the monastery of women monks, said the Dalai Lama. He added that the Tathagata had four parshad (corporators) Bhikshu, Bhikshuni, Upasak and Upasika. It would be a good thing if Bhikshuni Sangh is established in Tibet, he said. He also addressed the devotees from America and Australia at the library of the CIHTS. While addressing them, he said that along with the religion he gave equal importance to science because both of them were benefited by each other.
